CEMRO (California Emergency Medicine Residents’ Organization) is a registered unincorporated nonprofit association recognized by the state of California Secretary of State with approved nonprofit status through California corps code section §18035, §21300, (§.18000-24001.5). Given our size and purpose of serving the public good, CEMRO is able to function as a 501(c)(3): a tax-exempt nonprofit with donations being tax deductible. Regarding the big picture, we are positioned to become a well-recognized entity built upon three fundamental pillars:

•  Novel Offerings: Bring unique resources to California residents which are not available from other resident organizations (physical goods, educational material, new unique “development tracks”).
• No Barriers: Maintain barrier-free entry to Emergency Medicine trainees (financially, politically, etc.)
• Accessible Support:  Offer streams of support directly to our members and between members.

Each of our pillars are framed through increased experience, autonomy, and improving resident satisfaction while advancing resident training. Additionally, CEMRO provides localized solutions in partnership with our supporters. Our aim is to enhance resident competency and performance through multi-faceted, result-based solutions to maximize satisfaction and minimize burnout. We’re effectively combining processes, people, and systems designed to match the needs of today’s physicians-in-training.

One of the ways CEMRO is unique is that we are one of the only truly independent resident organizations in the United States. Despite the phrasing by other fine associations, it is hard to consider them “independent” when they are owned by a larger political organization (sometimes even with offices physically located in a large political organization’s headquarters).

At CEMRO, the only ideologies we promote are excellent opportunities, improved training, and enhanced education. If you are seeking a political organization, there are many excellent outside organizations for your needs. We all bring something unique and special to the table. With that said, CEMRO realizes the need to adapt in our rapidly changing world and healthcare environment. We also appreciate the importance of growing and developing from within ourselves, at creating strong internal relationships between our passions inside and outside medicine. We strive to continue building and sustaining a leadership position in the field of emergency medicine.  Our tool for that is woven into our design as an organization – to work through dynamic changes with fast reaction times, continuous innovation, and member satisfaction in mind.

CEMRO is inspired by member ideas, motivations, and loyalty. In essence, the agenda at CEMRO is defined by our pillars. Our culture is you. CEMRO believes in earning our members’ focus and loyalty. And we achieve it through quality solutions coupled with commitment in a teamwork environment.
